Stop the Cuts Rally in Washington, D.C.

On October 2nd, hundreds of Head Start supporters from across the country came out to Stand up for Head Start on Capitol Hill! The crowd heard from a number of Members of Congress, Head Start Alumni, and Head Start Parents. NHSA would like to thank everyone who traveled to attend the Rally and everyone who showed their support from afar.

Sequestration's Impact on Head Start: National and State-by-State Fact Sheets

Head Start has been a national commitment to comprehensive services for poor children since 1965, but the deep cuts caused by sequestration are closing that window of opportunity. Head Start, Early Head Start and Migrant/Seasonal Head Start programs have had flexibility to implement the 5.27% cut - which amounts to nearly $405,000,000 nationally - but all programs were faced with very difficult decisions about cutting services to children, families, and communities.

Cooking Matters at the Store Mini-Grants

NHSA and Share Our Strength are providing mini-grants to Head Start programs to facilitate grocery store tours that show families how to shop for healthy, affordable food.
