Tuesday, June 25th Overview - Human DevelopmentLeading Outside of the FireMorning 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.Leading is making decisions that impact the organization, right? And to be a good leader you have to put out fire, after fire, after fire. Sometimes you wonder why you don’t ever get to the big picture decisions you are responsible for making. It’s probably because you can’t see through the “smoke.” This morning we will discuss methods to help you take control of your choices (fire extinguishing). We will dig into root cause analysis of your fires (ember busting). We will challenge you on the need for planning and prioritizing (fire prevention). And we will even help you remember how to use the everyday fires as tools for coaching, mentoring and developing (using fire for hot results). Leaving Your LegacyMorning 10:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.Once you have control, you have a choice. We will explore your choice in the legacy you want to leave in the organization. Whether you plan to spend a year, a decade, or a career leading at your organization, you have an opportunity to make an impact. We will help explore challenges, barriers, roadblocks, unmet visions, and unachieved goals that get in the way of what you want to accomplish. And finally we will help you blend personal legacies into leadership opportunities.
Teaching and Learning from Others Early Afternoon 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. You have taken control, you have made a choice, you are leaving a legacy. Now you need time to share your vision with others and learn from others, too. During the afternoon each participant will role play and role model legacy mentoring and coaching around one thing they do really well, and one legacy-related competency they really need help with. We will allow time for each individual to be a mentor, and a mentee. As a result, each organization will be able to celebrate and teach; and each organization will be able to ask questions and learn. Q&A Late Afternoon 3:15 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. The afternoon “Q&A” will be an opportunity to learn from the entire group, share challenges and success stories, and do some more structured networking – with the goals of building ideas, peer relationships, and actionable legacy building steps to take back from the Academy.
Learning Objectives: Understand and overcome the day-to-day challenges impeding your priorities for the future. Identify how leaving your legacy can positively impact the organization’s future. Wednesday, June 26th Overview - Head Start System
Management systems provide a framework for service delivery. Every program has them – but are yours aligned with current Federal priorities and producing quality outcomes for children and families? This session will go beyond establishing management systems and will focus on evaluating, refining, and testing your management systems while maintaining staff buy-in and support. Through the use of small group activities, case study, and dialogue with other participants, this session will challenge you to return to your program and take action.
Day 3 Learning Outcomes:
Outcome #1: Participants will acquire information on the regulatory requirements of the Head Start Management Systems
Outcome #2: Participants will learn techniques and tools to incorporate strong management systems in their own programs.
Outcome #3: Participants will acquire an understanding of how to integrate Head Start Management Systems in order to improve program quality and sustainability
Thursday, June 27th Overview - Outcomes Based Management
This session will introduce key tools and approaches used in Acelero Learning’s own Head Start programs that incorporate using data to make decisions. We will also discuss how programs can move to an increased focus on child outcomes (as demonstrated in School Readiness score analysis), family outcomes (as they correlate to the Parent, Family, & Community Engagement Framework), and even Health and other service area outcomes. During this training, you will:- Perform a Program Use of Data assessment to better understand and articulate how well information is collected, distributed, and used to reinforce both a program's compliance and quality.
- Gain hands-on experience with sample monitoring and outcome measure tools.
- Develop an advanced knowledge of the concept of Managing by Outcomes, and how it relates to the OHS’s new emphasis on school readiness goals and the PFCE framework.
