2013 Stroll-In to Stop Sequestration

Sequestration is Devastating Head Start

70,000 children are being kicked out of Head Start.

The only way to minimize these catastrophic cuts is to TAKE ACTION NOW! Each Member of Congress must see -in their own communities - the faces of children and families whose futures and livelihoods hang in the balance.

Next week, Congress will be on break and Members will return to their home districts - a perfect opportunity for you and members of your local Head Start community to take part in the:

2013 Stroll-In for Head Start to Congressional Offices

Next Friday, March 15, gather your Head Start family, friends, and supporters to visit the local offices of your Members of Congress. Join thousands in a nation-wide Stroll-In for Head Start. Tell your elected officials how devastating cuts to Head Start will be to your family and the local ecomony!

Here's how...

Find your local district office! District offices are located throughout your state.
	Click here to identify your Members of Congress. Click on your Members' names for a link to their website. Go to their website and find the address of the nearest district office. Contact your director or state association director to confirm which office to visit.
Organize your own community! Reach out to everyone you know.
	Post details of the Stroll-In on Facebook. Tweet them! Here are some suggested messages. Call or email friends and supporters about the 2013 Stroll-In for Head Start. Distribute and post this flyer wherever you can.
Send a media advisory to your local TV, radio, and newspaper!
	A long line of strollers is a great photo-op! Media advisory template - Be sure to send it out at least a day before the stroll-in.
Coordinate with your team to map-out your Stroll-In!

Show your passion! Use your voice for Head Start to stand up for your children, families, and community!

Keep the drum-beat of Head Start support rolling - FOLLOW-UP!
	Send a thank you note to the Representative, Senator, or staff. Post your pictures on Facebook and send them to NHSA's Facebook page Email (stroll-in@nhsa.org), call (703-739-7560), or Facebook NHSA to tell us how your Stroll-In went
