1. Balboa Park

San Diego's rich interest in arts and culture is showcased in ninety museums, historic sites and monuments. The 1,200-acre Balboa Park, the largest urban cultural park in the United States, is often referred to as the "Smithsonian of the West" and is home to 15 museums, numerous art galleries, five theaters including The Old Globe, and 16 beautiful gardens.

2. Coronado

Situated a bridge across from downtown San Diego, Coronado offers a rich, romantic history, the nation's #1 family beach in 2012, and an idyllic seaside paradise to enjoy throughout the year. The "Crown City" also offers intimate B&Bs and luxury resorts like the landmark Hotel del Coronado, beautiful gardens, elegant mansions, a charming 1950's-style downtown and an all-American small-town quaintness.  

3. Downtown San Diego and the Historic Gaslamp Quarter

5. Balboa Park December Nights (Dec. 4 - 5)

Balboa Park December Nights, the nation's premier holiday festival, will take place for the 38th consecutive year on Friday, Dec. 4, 3-11pm, and Saturday, Dec. 5, noon-11pm. As always, the event brings families and friends together to spread holiday joy, learn more about the cultural value of Balboa Park and kick-off the "most wonderful time of the year."
