November 14, 2012 - November 16, 2012
Ellicott City, MD
Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors (AP) is the nation’s first evidence-based parent leadership training program for Latino parents with children 0-5 years of age. This curriculum, delivered in 10 interactive sessions, is based on popular education, and draws on the real-life experiences and cultural strengths of its participants.
The Facilitator Training for Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors fully prepares local community leaders to become facilitators in delivering the program to parents in their Head Start/Early Head Start service areas. Learn more about the unique features of the Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors here.
In partnership with the National Head Start Association (NHSA), Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors National Trainers will offer a two-and-a-half-day Facilitators Training for 20 individuals, November 14 - 16, 2012, in Ellicott City, Maryland. Lunches and the Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors Facilitator's Kit are included in the attendance fee. Each team will return to their program with a kit to share.
To ensure maximum impact, individuals are strongly encouraged to attend the training with a training partner. Training partners do not need to be from the same agency, but individuals should pair up in such a manner that they can collaborate and support their partner in implementing the curriculum in their local programs. Both members of the training team must apply. Applicants are required to obtain a letter of support from their program director.
