The National Head Start Association's 26th Annual Parent Training Conference is designed to help parents and those who work with or on behalf of parents and their children advance their knowledge, skills, and abilities. This conference provides a valuable opportunity to gain a better understanding of developmentally appropriate practices, learn critical new skills, broaden awareness, and acquire resources that will enable participants to help Head Start children and their families reach new heights!

NHSA's 26th Annual Parent Training Conference will offer pre-conference training and more than 100 educational sessions and special events in key areas, including...

  • Assessment, planning, and management
  • Early education/care and child development
  • Family services
  • Health, nutrition, and safety
  • Parent involvement and parenting practices
  • Partnerships and collaboration
  • Self-development and awareness building
  • Social/emotional development and challenging behaviors

Who Should Attend?

Parents
As their child's first and most important teacher, parents are central to a child's successful development. This conference will give parents an opportunity to learn developmentally appropriate practices, the "dos and don'ts" of effective parenting, important facts and information relating to child development, ways to enhance early literacy development, the value of parental involvement, how to address challenging behaviors, how to boost interpersonal skills, and so much more!

Directors
Directors have the task of ensuring that their programs are well managed and provide effective services to children and their families. This conference will give directors the opportunity to attend sessions related to key core competency areas. They will also have a chance to network with their peers, gain new insights and perspectives, and learn a wide-variety of responsive, effective approaches for meeting the needs of Head Start children and their families.

Practitioners
Practitioners are the hands-on professionals whose efforts and actions most directly affect the success of early childhood care and educations programs. This conference will offer unique learning opportunities for staff members who are seeking ways to improve their overall job performance, learn new strategies for addressing the comprehensive needs of children and families, increase parental involvement, improve their work with families, and acquire useful tools and resources that will help ensure that children enter kindergarten prepared for success.
