| 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM | Hot Topic - Early Learning WorkforceBeside parents, early learning teachers have the single greatest impact on young children's success in Head Start and Early Head Start. The development of a workforce that supports innovation and excellence in the classroom and meets the statutory requirements of the 2007 Head Start Act is a necessity--and a major challenge for local programs. Historically, a signature of the Head Start program has been to lift-up some parents to become staff members. Today, soaring cost of higher education, limited access to institutions and low compensation incentives are just a few of the challenges facing the development and retention of a effective workforce. In this session, the panelists will explore emerging trends in the preparation of teachers and policies that support the retention of a high quality workforce to ensure program excellence.Moderator
