First Book
First Book is a national nonprofit that gives children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books. Since 1998, NHSA and First Book have worked together to get new books into the hands of countless Head Start children. To launch the partnership, First Book gave a free book to every child enrolled in an NHSA member program. Head Start representatives across the country serve on local First Book Advisory Boards and participate in First Book cause-based marketing campaigns. First Book is a leading contributor to NHSA’s hurricane relief efforts which support Head Start family and programs affected by Hurricane’s Katrina and Rita.
