NHSA Disaster Relief Fund

The NHSA Disaster Relief Fund is a permanent assistance program. Developed initially to assist the Head Start community during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the fund is now used to assist Head Start staff and families who become victims of natural disasters. NHSA will provide assistance in the form of food, clothing, or cash donations to Head Start families on an individual basis, based on need.

To donate to the fund, please download the Donation Form and send it with a check made payable to the NHSA Disaster Relief Fund to:

Should staff and families in your program need NHSA 's help, the Head Start director should verify the nature of the need in writing. Subsequently, NHSA will assess the need and determine the best way to assist. To access the fund, program staff may download the Disaster Relief Fund Request Form and fax it to the attention of JoAnn Nelson-Hooks, NHSA Special Initiatives Manager at (703) 739-0878.
