About the NHSA Health Services Credentials Program

The NHSA Health Services Credentials Program is designed especially for Head Start health services providers! This professional development course offers an opportunity for health services staff to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. The credential course is competency-based and organized in a self-study, portfolio format.

The Credential Portfolio is emailed directly to the candidate. Furthermore, candidates are given a full four months to work at their own pace! Candidates will submit their Credential Portfolio electronically when it is completed.

Registration

Registration is open year round so enrollment can occur at at any time!

Registration Fee: $750 NHSA Member; $825 Non-Member

Accessing the Credential Portfolio

All Credential Portfolios are emailed to candidates as PDF that can be typed directly on and saved.

You will need an active e-mail address and Adobe Reader to access the portfolio and other credential correspondence. Instructions and the our month deadline date will accompany the Credential Portfolio.

Time Period to Complete the Portfolio

You will have four (4) months to complete the Credential Portfolio. Some candidates find it helpful to complete one Competency per week or every two weeks.  This allows for time to re-read through the responses and to have someone to review them prior to the four month deadline.

Submitting the Portfolio

NHSA receives Credential Portfolio submissions as uploaded electronic documents. An individualized upload link and instruction on how to submit your portfolio will be sent via email.

Review Results

Results of the Credential Portfolio review typically are available in 12 weeks post-submission and will be emailed to you. Upon successful completion of the portfolio, the Health Services Credential will be awarded and emailed to you.
