About the 2018 Academy

Join us in Louisville, Kentucky from July 9, 2018 to July 12, 2018 for a 4-day journey through the Head Start grant cycle: how to build a strong foundation with an effective community needs assessment, set goals and unite your team to meet them, bring your data to life, and adapt for improvement.

This peer-learning environment will bring together Head Start practitioners from across the country to break down what it takes to align your program services with your five-year grant, develop leadership skills that support all staff and their professional development, and use data to tell your program’s story.

The program is developed by NHSA staff in collaboration with outside experts. Under the direction of skilled moderators, the Academy will feature a wide range of presenters with expertise in areas of strategic importance to Head Start.

Topics to be covered:

  • Grant Writing and the process
  • ELOF/School Readiness
  • Performance Standards
  • Data Usage
  • CQI
  • Workforce
  • Intentional Leadership

Testimonial

“NHSA’s Manager and Director Academy provided engaging and interactive opportunities to reflect and assess our program and our team. The emphasis on Practice-Based Coaching, and Relational Leadership offered creative and inspiring ways to build dynamic teams. In addition, we were treated to a session on using data to drive program decision making and left energized and motivated to implement strong systems focusing on integrated services and high quality programming. The Manager and Director Academy was stimulating, educational and thought provoking. Each of our team members left excited to implement the strategies and techniques from the Academy.”
