On August 18, 2015 at 3 pm EST, NHSA invites Education Managers to a 50-minute webinar featuring noted author/researcher, Karen Worth of Wheelock College. This webinar is part of our long-standing partnership with public television’s PEEP and the Big Wide World, a preschool science series. Karen Worth, who is an advisor for PEEP and its producers at WGBH Boston, will address the why/how of incorporating STEM into the early childhood environment. WGBH’s Gay Mohrbacher will take us through PEEP’s new bilingual website with curriculum and PD video modules for providers.

Learning Goals:

  1. Understand the characteristics of effective science teaching
  2. Recognize age-appropriate science topics, content
  3. Learn how open-ended questions keep an exploration ongoing
  4. Recognize the importance of documenting children’s work for later reflection
  5. Get an introduction to the Emmy Award-Winning preschool series on public television, PEEP and the Big Wide World
  6. Locate the 6-unit STEM curriculum on the PEEP website with its accompanying PD video modules
