Overview: What is Abriendo Puertas?

Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors is a peer-to-peer training program that seeks to improve the outcomes of our nation's Latino children by focusing on building the capacity and confidence of parents to be strong and powerful advocates in the lives of their children. NHSA is pleased to be a partner with the Abriendo Puertas National Training Team.

The Abrieno Puertas/Opening Doors curriculum is composed of 10 sesions, each based around a saying that provides a helpful framework.

AP Champions

Abriendo Puertas Champions have been selected based on their training capacity and their geographical location.  The AP Champions are located in areas of the nation where there is a high Latino population: Florida, Illinois, Texas, Nevada, and New Jersey.  East Coast Migrant Head Start Project is also an AP Champion covering the migrant programs in their area.  These AP Champions have been trained at the national level.  They are fully capable of providing AP trainings to their program staff and other programs in their area.  AP Champions are also responsible for providing technical assistance and support to current AP Facilitators in their area.

If you are interested in attending an AP training or ir you are a current AP Facilitator who needs further support, feel free to contact the AP Champion in your area. Find out who they are here.
