Types of Membership


Individual Memberships

Without the dedicated involvement of parents, staff, and other concerned individuals Head Start would not be the high-quality program that it is today. Through a variety of membership opportunities, NHSA provides a way for every individual to participate in shaping Head Start’s future.

The following categories of members receive discounts on NHSA training and conferences, access to all resources in the "Members Only" section of the Web site, and one copy of Children & Families.

  • Head Start Director
  • Head Start Staff
  • Friend of Head Start
  • Parent
  • Alumnus
  • Student

Associate Memberships

There are many organizations not directly involved with Head Start but nonetheless are interested in its success. NHSA welcomes the interest and participation of these organizations and has created special membership categories for them. There are three types of Associate Members:

  • Nonprofit,
  • Corporate, and
  • University,College, and Research Groups.
Associate Members receive all the benefits Individual Members receive. In addition, Associate Members receive a discount on exhibition space at conferences and advertisements in NHSA publications.

Program Members

A Head Start or Early Head Start program can become a Program Members and secure NHSA membership benefits for the program's entire staff.

Program membership includes eligibility for NHSA awards and scholarships; discounts on NHSA training and conferences; access to all resources in the "Members Only" section of www.nhsa.org; multiple copies of Children & Families; and a subscription to the NHSA Dialog.
