Stroll In for AdvocacySince March 15th thousands of parents, children and advocates have participated in the nation-wide Stroll-In for Head Start at their local congressional offices. They let elected officials know the devastating impact the cuts to Head Start program are having on their children and local economy and made sure they were heard! Many Stroll-Ins received local TV, radio, and newspaper coverage. Check out photos from previous Stroll-Ins - and if you haven't send yours, be sure to email them to Kati at kjackson@nhsa.org! Managing the Impact of the Sequester WebinarAs the impact of the sequestration continues to unfold, Head Start programs across the nation are asking where to make these cuts. Opening the Doors is easy to use and provides everything you need for a first-rate volunteer program. The Tool Kit was field tested in Head Start programs in several states for three months and reflects the best practices of exemplary community outreach programs. NHSA Academy Basic Family and Health Services Credential Designed especially for Head Start family and health service providers, the Academy Basic Family and Health Services Credential program is a distance education, self-study course that offers an opportunity for family and health services staff to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in 12 competency areas based on the Head Start Program Performance Standards. Family and Health service workers and coordinators will reflect on their professional practice and gain insight into ways that Head Start services can be enhanced. In addition, Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are offered to candidates who successfully complete the credential. Candidates can work at their own pace and are given a full six months to complete the course. There are no registration timelines, which means, registration is available year round!
