Let’s Keep Things in Perspective: Release of the Head Start Impact Study Third Grade Follow-up Following the release of the latest follow-up of the 5,000 children selected for the National Head Start Impact Study in 2002, there has been much debate about the effectiveness of Head Start. Much of the debate is fueled by basic misunderstandings of the intent of the study. Yasmina Vinci just wrote an article for Reuter’s which puts the findings in clear perspective, laying out more than 45 years of evidence that Head Start works!Next week, NHSA will host a call-in about the Impact Study to present our perspective on the findings and answer your questions. We’ll suggest ways to answer questions about the study, how to address press inquiries, and how to respond to many misinterpretations about the study. Join the call Thursday, January 24 at 3pm ET. Use this number and code: 712-432-0900 and access code 484503#. Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step toward getting federal aid for college, career school, or graduate school. Federal Student Aid provides more than $150 billion in grants, loans, and work-study funds each year, but in order to receive that money, college-bound students must start by filling out the FAFSA. The Department of Education Website ED.gov has lots of information about financial aid. It also has information about the new student loan repayment options that can lower monthly payments for borrowers.
