It is a major enhancement to the member experience and will provide access to resources, newsletters, webinars, and discussion forums. A much-requested feature for program members is the ability for member program staff to print their own NHSA membership card! Beginning Friday March 29th, NHSA members will receive information about the portal , along with login instructions and a user guide. Members can also visit the My NHSA Marketplace at the 40th Annual NHSA Conference and see the new portal in action! NHSA Directory of Professional Development Resources and Consultants! Join the NHSA Directory of Professional Development Resources and Consultants! This new directory is designed to provide the Head Start community with access to a number of high impact resources. The NHSA Directory will provide national awareness of your services and resources. Instructions about how to join the directory can be found here. NHSA Reaccredited as an Authorized Provider of IACET CEUs March 19, 2013: The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) has awarded reaccreditation status to National Head Start. IACET Authorized Providers are the only organizations approved to offer IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs). The accreditation period extends for five years, and includes all programs offered or created during that time. In order to achieve Authorized Provider accreditation, NHSA completed a rigorous application process, including a review by an IACET site visitor, and successfully demonstrated adherence to the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard addressing the design, development, administration, and evaluation of its programs. NHSA provides CEU credits for attending educational sessions at all conferences and other training and professional development events. New Resources for Head Start
Leadership, Human Resources, Fiscal Systems and General Management NHSA is expanding the faculty for the 2013 Managers and Directors Academy, June 24-27 in Denver, CO. We are looking for content experts in Leadership, Human Resources, Fiscal Systems and Outcomes-based Management.The Academy will focus on critical issues facing all Head Start programs and is an excellent opportunity for veteran Head Start staff and consultants who have a track record of success to share innovative strategies and proven practices. Family Service and Health Service Practitioners Bring the Professional Development Opportunity to You! NHSA is currently offering two self-study credentials that can be completed without any travel at all! Designed for family and health service workers, these curriculums are designed to test an applicant’s knowledge and skills in 12 areas of competency based on NHSA Performance Standards. Candidates can complete their portfolio over a six-month period, working at their own pace. In addition, Continuing Education Units are available to candidates who successfully complete these credentials! American Institute of Research Feedback Session The American Institute of Research (AIR) is designing a study, sponsored by OHS and OPRE, to determine which coaching components make the biggest difference for Head Start quality. The team is currently in the planning stages of this initiative and hopes that you will come and provide feedback, insights and suggestions. The session will take place at 1:00 pm on May 1st at the National Head Start Association Conference in Washington, D.C. All HS administrators, education coordinators, coaches, staff and parents are welcome! Discussion will be facilitated by a small team led by AIR. IDEA Partnership Offers Access to Educational Resources for Autism Awareness Month We know that achieving progress demands knowledge, skill and a willingness to act on what we learn. When we think about serving individuals on the autism spectrum, we recognize that there are still many gaps in knowledge and resources. Hoping to lessen some of these gaps, the organizations in the IDEA Partnership are making the following tools available for your use during Autism Awareness Month. These tools were developed in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders and vetted by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP).
