National Infant Mortality Awareness Month

The National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition’s text4baby program is making strides to address infant mortality. By providing pregnant women and moms—particularly those facing disproportionately high risk of poor birth outcomes—with free, accurate, and easy-to-understand health information via text message, more mothers are able to connect to resources, care, and knowledge to make the best possible choices for their babies.

The National Head Start Association is a proud supporter of text4baby and the 2012 Text4baby State Enrollment Contest, which aims to energize the work partners at the state and local level are doing to connect women to this service. All moms that sign up between September 1 and September 30 will be entered to win a year’s supply of Johnson’s Baby products courtesy of the program’s Founding Sponsor, Johnson & Johnson. Moms can enroll online, via Facebook , or by texting BABY (or BEBE in Spanish) to 511411. The winner will be randomly selected and featured on text4baby’s website, Facebook and Twitter pages, and in text4baby’s weekly e-newsletter, Text4baby Tuesday. For more information, see contest rules here. We wish your state the best of luck in the State Enrollment Contest, and encourage you to get your state to number one!
