Statement on FY 2017 Bill

May 4, 2017

WASHINGTON, DCIn response to Congress’ passage of the FY 2017 bill, the following statement should be attributed to Yasmina Vinci, executive director of the National Head Start Association:

“Today the U.S. Congress passed a measure to fund the federal government for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2017, and Head Start received an $85 million funding increase to support our workforce. The Head Start community applauds Congress and the President for striking an agreement that prioritizes proven programs with significant national benefit, including Head Start programs.  This agreement is a positive step forward and, with the FY 17 bill finalized, we look forward to working with Congress and the President to ensure Head Start is adequately and appropriately funded in Fiscal Year 2018.”
