NHSA TO HOLD SPECIAL ELECTION FOR 2007-2009 BOARD MEMBERS, OFFICERS
WASHINGTON,
D.C./July 6, 2007//The board of directors of the National Head Start Association (NHSA), the national voice of Head Start grantees, is reviewing the Association’s election practices as a first step to holding a special election for certain of its board officers before the end of 2007.
The board is seeking to ensure that NHSA is in compliance with a District of Columbia law requiring the keeping of “a record of the names and addresses of its members entitled to vote”. During the review period, the individuals currently holding the Board officer positions will remain in place.
A special election will be held to fill current vacancies in board officer positions and also elect the Association’s board chair, vice-chair and secretary and treasurer.
The NHSA Board has created an ad hoc committee to be headed by the chair of its Bylaws and Nominating Committee to recommend to the full Board membership election procedures that comply with District law and ensure that a full, fair and lawful election be held no later than December 31, 2007.
