Father-Friendliness Organizational Self-Assessment and Planning Tool for Early Childhood Education Programs
This organizational self-assessment package is designed to help Head Start and other Early Childhood Education programs assess their readiness to provide services to fathers/father figures and their commitment and ability to serve the whole family rather than just the mother and child(ren). It was developed by the National Center for Strategic Nonprofit Planning and Community Leadership (NPCL) in partnership with the National Head Start Association (NHSA), the United States Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Region V, and the Illinois Department of Public Aid, Division of Child Support Enforcement. NHSA and NPCL are working in partnership to develop and enhance the provision of fatherhood services by Head Start agencies. The goal is to create an environment where staff, mothers and fathers respect each others roles, work together, and collaborate with other community organizations to ensure the availability of comprehensive services that support the role of fathers in the lives of their children in order to promote and enhance the well-being of every child.
