Each NHSA event presents the Head Start community with unique opportunity to learn from experts, engage in active peer to peer sharing and celebrate our community’s achievements.
NHSA utilizes the latest technology to support the attendee registration, on-site experience and post-event evaluation. NHSA’s website and conference management system are frequently updated in the 12 weeks prior to the event. It is best to review the event schedule at a glance and listing of training sessions prior to your arrival.
NHSA presents learning experiences in a number of formats – 30, 60, 90 minutes education sessions, also half and full-day intensive trainings and small affinity group meet-up to foster peer to peer learning communities. NHSA also offers event sponsors unique opportunities to showcase products for our community. Sponsored sessions and the exhibit hall are the only locations products and services should be marketed.
At all events, NHSA will request evaluations from attendees. This is important opportunity to share general feedback, concerns about a session’s content or point out an exceptional experience. NHSA values the time and talent presenters bring to our events. NHSA utilizes the latest technology to support the presenter's content submission, review, pre-event coordination, on-site experience and post event evaluation.
NHSA recruits presenters year round for different events. The Parent Conference and Family Engagement Institue request for submission typically occurs in July and August of each year. The Annual Training Conference request for submissions typically occurs in October and November of each year. The Fall and Winter Institutes, as well as the Manager and Director Academy, are by invitation only. If you would like to be included in our call for presentation alerts, please submit your information.

A central tenet in the Head Start community is to value volunteers. At NHSA, our small staff managing conferences would not be successful without the hundreds of volunteer hours needed to support our events. In additionto people power, volunteers help to shape the event to have a local flavor and hospitality. Volunteer provide service in four areas:
- Conference Bag Stuffing
- Logistics support on-site
- Special Events/Hospitality
NHSA offers all volunteers time at the event in exchange for time supporting the event. Typically we ask volunteers to work two days to receive two days as an attendee. Volunteer recruitment occurs one month prior to the event.
