2017 Winter Leadership Institute
January 23 - 26, 2017

***IMPORTANT ADVISORY - Our Institute schedule has changed so that Hill visits will now take place on TUESDAY JANUARY 24th and our schedule for the Tuesday has moved to Wednesday.  This change was made after Congressional leadership announced on January 10th that they will now be out of session on the 25th.

Head Start’s Congressional Breakfast

To kickoff our 2017 Hill Day we invite all Institute attendees to join us for the 2017 Head Start Congressional Breakfast: Starting America Early on Wednesday, January 25th at 9:00am in the Rayburn House Office Building.

As we look towards our next 50 years, join us in this event to renew and refresh our nation’s commitment to the most vulnerable children and families. You won’t want to miss inspiring talks by Members of Congress, prominent Head Start alumni, and more!

Meeting with Members of Congress

After an electrifying start to the day, attendees are free to spend the rest of Hill Day meeting with Members of Congress at their nearby offices. In addition to many sessions that offer the chance to hear the thinking behind policies right from federal staff at OHS and other agencies, the opportunity to meet with Members of Congress is one of the most impactful ways you can spend your time at the Fall Leadership Institute. In fact, this is the reason we host Institutes in Washington, D.C!

This is an ideal opportunity for you to meet with policymakers who decide how Head Start will be funded and how Head Start will look in years to come. Take this chance to share with your Members how Head Start has impacted your community and your life. Remember - Members of Congress are there to represent you! Congressional staff members are often just as happy for the opportunity to meet with you as you are.
