Each year Head Start serves more than 1 million children and families throughout the country. Over24,000 of them are American Indian and Alaskan Native children or pregnant women.
Many local Head Start programs have infused culturally rich Native American traditions and tribal languages into their curriculums and outreach to the community. We applaud your efforts to provide an educational foundation and cultural literacy to our youngest learners!
Thanks to 146 Head Start and 67 Early Head Start American Indian and Alaskan Native grantees, thousands of Native American children and pregnant women have received the comprehensive educational and health and wellness services that are so important to Head Start.
