Head Start Alumni Spotlight: Yajaira Monreal

At 5:30 AM, Yajaira Monreal’s parents buckle her into her car seat for the drive to her Head Start Family Child Care Home in Castroville, California. After dropping their children off, some families, like Yajaira’s, will leave to work ten- or twelve-hour days with the peace of mind that their child is in a safe and healthy early learning environment.

Having access to Head Start has been incredibly beneficial for the Monreal-Salas family. Yajaira has strengthened her fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and language skills at Head Start. The education and kindness that Yajaira has received from her Head Start teachers has led her to want to become a teacher when she grows up. With the support of her loving family and Head Start, she will undoubtedly achieve her dreams!

A las cinco y media de la mañana, los padres de Yajaira Monreal le ponen en su asiento de seguridad para conducir hacia Head Start Family Child Care Home en Castroville, California. Después de dejarla, muchas familias similares a los padres de Yajaira, trabajan de diez a doce horas durante el día con la tranquilidad que sus hijos están seguros en un medio ambiente sano de aprendizaje temprano.
