As a new president is inaugurated, let’s recommit ourselves to serving Head Start children and families. With this activity you will have an opportunity to share your personal story of what Head Start means to you with President Trump. Now more than ever, our Head Start stories can make a difference in ensuring that Head Start remains strong for generations to come!

Here are four easy steps to share your story:

Step 1Download and print the postcard template. We suggest you print the double-sided postcard in color and on 16 point paper stock (or any paper that is a bit heavier than the typical paper you use to print out worksheets).

Step 2: Cut out the postcards and distribute them to your staff, families and policy council parents. If you are an alum, simply print out one for yourself!

Step 3: Write a personal message. All participating should use the blank lines on the postcard to write their full address and a personal message to the President about what Head Start means to you. We suggest you focus on how the program has helped children and families reach their own education and family goals.

Step 4: Collect the completed postcards and send them back to NHSA. We will be hand-delivering them to the White House in February! Mail them back to us at:

Why is the Activity important?

This activity provides the opportunity for the Head Start community to join together and ensure that the White House understands the critical nature of Head Start for our nation’s children and families.
