NHSA Statement on Passing of Maya Angelou

WASHINGTON, D.C. – WASHINGTON, D.C. –The following statement should be attributed to Yasmina Vinci, Executive Director of the National Head Start Association: 

“Maya Angelou was one of the most renowned voices of our time, whose writing and activism epitomized the values of compassion, equality and opportunity. Over 86 years, her courage and wisdom have inspired generations to work toward a more equal society that recognizes the beauty and value in every person. Head Start aims to provide every child, regardless of circumstance at birth, the opportunity to succeed. Maya Angelou’s life is a moving reminder of this goal and her vision of a brighter future continues to inspire and fortify the Head Start community.”
