WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Administration announced fresh Head Start Program Performance Standards.
The following statement should be attributed to Yasmina Vinci, Executive Director of the National Head Start Association:
“The Head Start community is pleased that the clear and central tenet of these new Performance Standards is the reducing of bureaucracy and streamlining of efficiency – two components essential to the effective delivery of Head Start’s high-quality, early learning program model. We are particularly pleased that parent and family engagement remains essential to Head Start’s two-generation approach. Upon initial review, these new Standards respond to the community’s unified voice urging for increased flexibility – including flexibility on critical items such as duration extension - to allow for the local program design that enables Head Start to address the unique needs of the diverse communities we serve.”
