The NHSA Book Club is designed to facilitate rich discussions among Head Start staff across the country about books that are relevant to the issues involved in working with vulnerable children, families, and communities.
NHSA is excited to be launching a partnership with the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) that will provide grants of over $160,000 over three years to five Head Start programs to enhance their family engagement work by incorporating NCFL's Family Learning program.
I’ve been wonderfully busy working with programs to secure Early Head Start - Child Care Partnerships (EHS-CC) Partnership monies that will create and strengthen partnerships with local child care programs. This interesting collaboration will extend the best of EHS out to the community, stretching those Federal dollars to serve as many children as possible.
Extended Duration in Head Start "Extended Duration" refers to lengthening the hours of services that Head Start offers individual children and their families, with the goal of increasing children's learning and developmental outcomes by providing more hours of high-quality learning experiences. Longer hours also support families who are working or in school to pursue self-sufficiency while resting assured that their children are in safe and nurturing early learning environments.
Measuring family engagement through parents' own words NHSA is now offering a web-based instrument that measures parent experience and the impact of early childhood programs’ engagement efforts. This innovative new tool aligns with the Office of Head Start’s Parent, Family, and Community Engagement Framework. Programs can use this tool to identify the needs of their families, the strengths of their PFCE efforts, and areas for improvement. Easy-to-read results provide baseline data and measure growth throughout the year.
What is Parent Gauge™?Parent Gauge™ is a web-based tool that measures parent experience and the impact of your program's engagement efforts. You can view a recording of a recent webinar that covers the origin story, a live demonstration, and more information about what is included with an annual subscription.
The Data Design Initiative aims to bring down the barriers that are hindering programs' abilities to collect, analyze, and share data and other evidence.
