Head Start Disaster Relief Fund
The National Head Start Association (NHSA) Disaster Relief Fund is used to assist NHSA member Head Start and Early Head Start programs and their staff and families who become victims of natural disasters. We define a natural disaster as the following: a major adverse event resulting from natural processes of the Earth; examples include floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, and other geologic processes. A natural disaster can cause loss of life or property damage.

From involving parents in program governance in 1965 to the strategies that raised millions in private funds to help offset the effects of sequester budget cuts in 2013, Head Start has innovated to make the most of opportunities and meet the most troublesome challenges.

About this Conference
NHSA’s Annual Head Start Conference and Expo is the largest national event devoted to the Head Start and Early Head Start community.
This year more than 5,000 executive directors, directors, administrators, managers, teachers, policy council members, and parents from every state will gather in Washington, D.C. March 29 - April 2, 2015.

In a unique configuration of location and content, the OHS Leadership Institute and NHSA’s 2013 Annual Conference are being held contiguously at the Gaylord National in Washington, D.C.
The OHS Institute will support the use of data by Head Start leaders to promote school readiness and inform quality improvement. Presenters from the National Centers and Head Start programs will focus on data and decision-making related to systems and service delivery in all aspects of school readiness. The conference will clarify what is expected of programs in this area.
