NHSA’s annual Parent Conference and Family Engagement Institutes is the only national event that focuses on how communities, parents, families, and Head Start program staff can best partner to promote both parent and family engagement and children’s learning and development.

Family Development Credential Instructors’ Training Institute

(This Institute will be held in conjunction with the National Head Start Manger & Director Academy)
The Family Development Credential Program (FDC), administered by the University of Connecticut is a research-based professional development course and credentialing program for frontline family workers to learn and practice skills of strength-based family support.
This four day interactive train-the-trainer Instructors’ Institute will certify Head Start staff as instructors, who will then offer the FDC program by training staff in their local communities.

In a unique configuration of location and content, the OHS Leadership Institute and NHSA’s 2013 Annual Conference are being held contiguously at the Gaylord National in Washington, D.C.
The OHS Institute will support the use of data by Head Start leaders to promote school readiness and inform quality improvement. Presenters from the National Centers and Head Start programs will focus on data and decision-making related to systems and service delivery in all aspects of school readiness. The conference will clarify what is expected of programs in this area.
