The Conference is Underway: Day 1 Recap!
The National Head Start Association’s 50th Anniversary Conference is now underway and is wrapping up it’s first full day!
Head start Alum Jorge Rodriguez said it most eloquently with the quote of the day: "We are here because Head Start has mobilized the marginalized towards equal opportunity.”
The numbers really do say it all.
50 Years. 32 million Alumni. 5,000 Attendees at one historic annual conference.

Day 2 Recap: Cornell Brooks, Opening Session, National Crayon Day and More!
“Life is a gift to be given to others in service. That is what Head Start is about.” - Cornell Brooks, President of the NAACP, at the Opening Session.
What an exciting day! With the 50th Anniversary Conference in full swing, we were excited to celebrate Head Start’s excellence and our new Quality Initiative designees, kickoff a new partnership with The Crayon Collection, and house 5,000 Head Starters at the Opening Session, where we heard both rousing anthems and inspiring keynote addresses. (Not to mention dozens of educational sessions!)

Given that I have been blogging away these past few days I thought perhaps I should introduce myself. My name is Evita Almassi and I provide NHSA’s voice on our social media outlets. Keep the "Burn" Out of Your Summer Fun in the Sun
Memorial Day marks the end of another school year and the unofficial start of outdoor summer fun. Public pools open and slip ‘n slides are rolled out to the soundtrack of ice cream truck jingles and kids’ laughter. Along with accidental belly flops, dropped ice cream cones, and unseen rocks under the slip ‘n slide, are the nasty sunburns.
Sunburns might seem like just a temporary pain or discomfort, but there are more dangerous effects that aren’t always immediately apparent.
